layout tables, cells

I have a few questions about the layout tables and cells. any answers are
great appreciated... Or if u know a good site with a thorough explanation of
them that would help too.

1. is there any way to keep cells and tables where they are!! everytime i
try to add a new cell/table or text to them my cells get stretched out all
over the place.

2. Any way to merge layout cells/tables?
3. How can i add a layout cell Beside another one?
