LDAP server error 17709

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

Entourage keeps quitting with this error and telling me to verify and rebuild the database. Have done so and run apple disk utility to no avail.

Any ideas?

I have seen this issue if you have port 389 blocked on your LDAP server
