*.LDB files being generated by both Access 2003 and elsewhere by Access
Runtime 2002 from WinXP open in Notepad as unreadable gobbledegook such as
"†".
I must open these *.LDB files in Notepad using the Encoding: ANSI option
rather than the default Encoding: Unicode, for these Locking DataBase to open
as plain-text of the computer and user names.
This only affects one particular site, which has copies of the same
databases, group policies, WinXP image, Office distro, and Regional &
Language options.
When locking issues occur, at-least Access Runtime 2002 reports the computer
ID as a vague incremental count, and table IDs as bizarre pipe | characters.
Any ideas why *.LDB files are being created as ANSI vs. Unicode?
