Leading zero missing when merging from Excel to Word...

I'm merging a number field with a leading zero from Excel
2003 to Word 2003 and the leading zero doesn't appear on
the Word document. Is it possible to merge leading
zeros, and if so, what format should the field be in
Excel.

One other issue is that if I merge a dollar amount,
example, $1234.50, it only merges 1234.5. How do I get
it to merge 1234.50?

Thanks for the great tip! I actually needed assistance with this and I find your suggestion. One thing that I had to change on my end is the placement of the comma from the example you gave on your website. I am using Office XP

\# ",$#.00;(,$#.00)" on your sit

\# "$,#.00;($,#.00)" moved the comma in front of the dollar sign

The comma positioning is obviously a Windows language thing. My system is
configured for UK English and it works as entered, but the page provides the
basic premise for formatting. Note that in order to have a leading zero,
you'll need to replace that hash before the decimal with a zero.

If you first save the numbers as text, you'll preserve the
leading and trailing zeros.
