I've never used Mac before and I am trying to familiarize myself with the Word app and I don't know how to change the alignment of my text to center or right--as if i was putting in a heading, or a date, or something to that effect. Help?

You can use the Formatting Palette for that (View>Formatting Palette), or if
you prefer a more traditional setup, click on View>Toolbars>Formatting to
bring up the familiar Formatting toolbar.

Or you may prefer more expeditious keystrokes:

Command+E for Center Alignment
Command+R for Right Alignment
Command+L for Left Alignment
Command+J for Justified Alignment

Hello Emily,

We need a context before we can answer that: what do you really mean by
"vertically center a document"? I'm assuming you don't mean "vertically
center text" or you would have said so.

Best to start a new thread for this different subject, and to provide the
version of Word you are using.

Cheers,
