left click wil lnot activate scroll + l click selects text

I am having difficulty completing creation of document. '
left click suddenly: 1. will not allow scrolling up or down, 2. does not
direct cursor 3. selects text 4. indents do not work with original formatting
selected
AM DESPERATE TO GET THIS PROJECT DONE! HELP!!
