Left margin adjustment too sensitive

In Word 2000, when I try to get hold of the left margin
indicator to adjust it, it is just ridiculously sensitive
and you have to get the pointer j u s t on it to within a
tiny fraction otherwise it activates the First Line
Indent or the Hanging Indent, instead.
Is it just me, or is there any less irritating way to do
this?

Thanks for responding but that doesn't seem to provide
any facility at all for adjusting the margins, they are
not even mentioned in the window that comes up...

Sorry, had a senior moment. If you really want to change the margins, then
use File | Page Setup.
