Left shared border or css photo - compromise ?

B

Brightbelt

Hi-
I'm on FP 2003, Win XP Pro. I'm experiencing a "design"
choice of sorts: whether to do a left shared border with
a photo background or a vector graphic as a css
background photo (for the top left corner). The vector
graphic css choice helps because I can add a curve
element to an otherwise "squarely" designed page. But the
left shared border photo fills out the page very well
also. I've maybe landed on a compromise, but one does
notice the edges between the two. I thought I'd ask for
feedback - does it work or no ? The site is:
Thanks for your help, Frank

Hi Crash-
Thanks for looking at it. Your point on the grey border
around the navigation is well taken. It does kinda
touch/match the cusp of the curve graphic somewhat, but
I'll fiddle with it some more. As for the 'black' piano
keys, you may be right there also - I have done alot of
experimenting with this graphic though and it can get
dull looking really fast. Thanks again,...Frank

Frank,

I think it works ok, I kinda like the way the curve
seems to tuck behind the vertical shared border - I only
checked it in IE6 though.
I'd probably make the gray border around the nav buttons
half the thickness they are. Personally, I'd also remove
the star gradient of the sharp keys and make them solid
black....but that's jest me :)
Looks better & better every time I see it!

Hi-
Pardon my ignorance, but what is NN7.1 ? I have checked
Netscape 7.1 and it shows up fine from here. As for
scripts, could you be more specific ? Are you maybe
referring to the shared border image or the table
background images ? Thanks,...Frank

Hi Stefan-
There may be something to what you're saying; on my
main computer the shared border photo showed up fine at
first on Netscape 7.1 and now it doesn't show. But it
Does show on NN7.1 on my laptop Ok and after many
loadings. Weird. Netscape can be a finnicky browser -
I've had whole pages that just didn't load for some
reason or another. I can live with it though....I think.
Thanks,...Frank

Worked fine in Mozilla & Firebird. Must be a bug in Netscape 7.1. There have
been quite a few reported bugs in it that are not in Mozilla.

Is the Flash plug-in installed in your version? I needed it for proper
display.

Hi Cheryl & Crash-
On another site, I've done (via Dreamweaver) code to
have a backup (non-flash) page load in the event the plug-
in is not detected. Can one put a flash plug-in with the
page ? How do I do that ? (Sorry for my ignorance there -
I'm surprised as well). Thanks,...Frank
