For a pie chart, the default legend entries are what would be the x-
values for another chart. If no such values are specified, XL uses the
numbers 1,2,3, etc.

The way to specify a range is to choose Source Data from the Chart menu, click on the Series
tab, click in the Category Labels box, then choose a range with the mouse.
