leveling a resource's time across projects

Hello,
I'm looking to setup a resource so that when he is leveled, he works equally
across 3 tasks to add up to 8 hrs a day. It seems as though MS Project
forces the projects to be stacked one after another because it wants to
allocate the max units of a resource that it can in a single day. Is there a
way to have leveling do what I'm looking for?

Consider changing the resource allocation units to 33% on each of the three
tasks in question
