Leveling resources on Project server hangs Project client

I have an enterprise pool of about 35 QA engineers who are assigned to
multiple parallel projects (about 8). When I try to level resources in
one project, the Project client locks up. I have tried opening all
projects at the same time prior to leveling, but with no success.
Projects level properly when off the server (saved as local file). Any
ideas on what this problem might be (and hoping mightily that it's
pilot error)? Thanks.
