Levelling Resources

Is it possible for MSP 2007 to automatically choose from a list of resources,
one resource to fulfil a task based on availability or overallocation. For
example, to complete Task 1 I need 1 person for 2 days, but this one person
could be Resource A, Resource B, Resource C or Resource D.

Can MSP 2007 select the non or under-allocated resource in this way?

Short answer: No. Project does not decide and resource assignments.
That's the job of the PM and/or the planner. Coincidently, this just
discussed and answered more fully by JulieS. See posting by "straforel"
at 15:00 today "Minimise resource overallocation".

Hi,

Project Server has a functionality doing this (Substitute Rresources) but
Proejct Professional and Standrd don't.

Jan,

Thanks for the information that Project Server does automatic resource
leveling along with feasible, explicit selection of resources for
tasks when many choices exist for selecting a resource for a task.

Regards,
Prasad
