License renewal question

My Microsoft word is locked up, it says I need to renew my license. I don't
know how to do this, anytime I pull down the help menu and choose to activate
product all I get is a big grey screen that says "please wait while wizard
initializes" and nothing happens even after I leave it up for 24 hours. Can
someone please help me? I have turned off my firewalls and everything else
to try and allow this to work. I don't know what else to do.

Hi Buddy,

Is this a MS Office 2003 trial edition? If not,
what is the edition of MS Word/Office you are using
as listed in help in the Word app or as named in Add/Remove
programs in the Windows control panel?

That was my first thought as well. Then I checked my Word 2003 Help menu. I
have never had a trial version of Office on my system and it's there.

I suspected as much. The OP wants to get rid of those two items for whatever
reason.

You do get this when the Trial, Version is expired. You need to buy the 2003 version of Office, Then you need to remove the trial version and install the Office version that you bought. This will solve your problem

Yep - it *does* look like I got my threads knotted together. You'd think
that after being a needleworker for 30+ years that wouldn't happen to me.

It's version 10.0.6626.0 and it came with my computer so I don't think it is
a trial version. I am using Win XP SP1, everytime my word boots up it brings
up a big grey box that says please wait while setup wizard initializes but it
never does. Is this the cause of the problem? I don't know but I need word
to work for school. Do i need to buy a new version?
