Hi Linda, I can assure you that we do want feedback. The problem is, frankly, that we get far too many suggestions (thousands per week) and existing systems for getting verbose feedback were too unstructured--meaning that even the most valiant efforts to read or respond (much less act on) quickly proved futile. Really, a good way to go insane is to try and read the suggestions, half of which are requests for help, 25% of which are some variant of "you stink" and the other 25% of which are actually suggestions.
The method you see here is an attempt to be upfront about that and give people (the community) the power to prioritize what we should respond to first by voting. Also, we wanted those people who were actually asking questions in their suggestions (either because they didn't get the suggestions feature or because there was a way to do what they wanted to in the product that they didn't realize it) to get an answer. This thread is sort of an example of that, with all the good folks like Milly and Paul chiming in with work-arounds or solutions.
In any case, if you have suggestions about the suggestions (as it were) feel free to post it here or email me. I'm actually one of the people responsible for (or to blame for, depending upon your viewpoint there) the suggestion feature.
As for your original suggestion, there were lots of people like you who really liked the assistant. Turned out there were more who didn't.
Thanks,

I like to enjoy my work, and the cute office assistants helped.
Also, Microsoft has made it annoying to submit any comments and suggestions.
Perhaps Microsoft DOES NOT REALLY WANT THEM. Obviously if we just get a
"discussion group" rather than Microsoft, the lack of wanting comments must
be a fact.
