Limit numbers of characters in shape data type String

When creating a custom shape, does anyone know if there is a way to
limit the number of characters for the String type in shape data?
Basically I want to limit the user to entering 19 charcters or less
into a textbox/data field. I remember from using access, word, etc...
that there is an input mask property that you can use to do this but I
can't find it in Visio. The custom formula for data fields or format
for shape data do not seem to support this, just uppercase, lowercase,
or mixed but no limit.
