limit on number of rows for filter

Is there a limit on the number of rows you can use with a filter in Excel
2002? It it the same limit in Excel 2003?

There is no limit per say, the limit is that there are about 1000 unique
records
visible in the dropdown. You can over-ride that by using custom or using
help column
