Limited Project 2007 Server Deployment

Hi,

We're currently looking at deploying Project 2007 Server for about 30
clients. My question is do we have to have active directory available to
harness the SharePoint services for PWA or can we run this product as a
workgroup?

Thanks forany assistance on this matter.

You don't need AD, you can use
1. NTLM (so NT4.0 domains if you still have them).
2. On a single server, you could use local windows accounts
3. You can use forms authentication. More technically challenging to set
up, but lets you authenticate to other services, such as LDAP, or you could
store the user names in a SQL provider.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for your response.

Am I right in thinking though that if I want to use PWA, then I must have
Sharepoint Services 3.0 available and that if I want to use this then I need
AD services available ?

Cheers,
SK

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

Am I right in thinking though that if I want to use PWA from the client then
I must have Sharepoint Services (WSS3.0) running and that this requires
Active Directory services ?

Hi,

As Ben said, you can go for a form authentication with local windows
account. At the same time you SharePoint services for PWA can be used.
