Limiting ShapeData Fields in Shapesheet

I tried asking in General questions,no results. So.......
I have several shapes all link to an excel spreadhseet with various fields of
data (Disk volume info for servers).
The excel spreadsheet has roughly 60 fields of data for each shape,
although some of these are empty being that not all servers have the same
number of disk drives.
I would like to limit the linking to shapes to those fields that have data
in them.
I can delete the entry in the shapesheet ShapeData for each field not
populated with data, but it's alot of work and it gets repoppulated with a
data refresh.
Is ther a way to limit the fields being linked to the shape?

The short answer is not without writing code, the internal mechanism links
the associated recordsets to the shapes directly (there's a one-to-one match
between recordset fields and custom properties).
