Limiting table data

Hi,

I would like to set a text field on one of my tables so it will not
accept spaces. The validation rule does not seem to help, as it checks
the entire field formatting, so if I put 'Not " "' then it allows
everything except typing just one space. Does anyone know how to limit
characters entered in a field?
