Limiting the number of lines per page

Is there a way to limit the number of lines (to say 59) in
a page ? I looked at help and was asked to go to File Menu
and then Page layout and click on Document Grid tab there.
But, I can't see a Document grid tab on both my Word2000
and Word2002. This is really imporant. Please help ! Would
greatly appreciate it if you can send your thoughts to
[email protected]

Thanks in advance.

The number of lines that will fit on a page depends on (a) the distance
between top and bottom margins, (b) the paragraph line spacing, and (c) if
paragraph line spacing is set to Single, the font size.

For example, in Word 2000 and above, the default font is 12-pt Times New
Roman. With the default 1" top and bottom margins and Single spacing, you
will get 46 lines per page.

* If you change the font size to 10 points, you will get 56 lines per page.

* If you change the top and bottom margins to 0.9", you will still get only
57 lines per page.

* If you also change the line spacing to 11 , you'll get 60 lines per page.

* If you change the line spacing to Multiple: 0.97, you'll get the desired
59 lines of 10-pt type with 0.9" top and bottom margins.

You'll need to experiment to see what combination of font size, paragraph
spacing, and margins will work best for you (this will change depending on
font, since each font has different leading built in).
