Line at the top of the page

I am trying to figure out how to delete a line that automatically show
up at the top of a word document when I try to start a new page. Th
line is not located in the header

This could be a page border. Look at the Page Border tab of the Borders
and Shading dialog box. If you write back telling which Word version you
are using, I could give you more specific instructions.
