line jump

I want to insert "line jumps" to show where lines that cross are not
connected. I have read this forum and the Visio help but the instructions
I've seen for doing this are not working for me. One interesting thing is
that when I go the "Placement" tab under the Behavior menu the "Placement
Behavior" says "Let Visio decide" and all the controls on the tab are grayed
out. I have also tried setting the line jumps at the "Page setup" level but
to no avail. This is frustrating. It should be as simple as selecting a
line (or two) and saying "install an arc at the intersection" or something.
Any ideas??

It sounds like you do not have a connector. Only connectors support line
jumps. Lines drawn with the Line tool do not.

Mark,

Thanks for the attempt but both lines ARE connectors. Now, another strange
point: I started a brand new diagram, quickly dumped two connectors onto the
page and the line jump worked perfectly. Is there some setting somewhere
that could be locking out the line jump or any weird rules about what the
connectors are connected to?

Thanks,
Chris

Check File > Page Setup to see if the page has any line jump settings. Then
check Format > Behavior for shape-specific settings.
