line spacing in word

I recently upgraded to the latest office for macintosh. Word will not allow me to single space a document even though I choose FORMAT, PARAGRAPH, LINE SPACING "single."

Oddly, all carriage returns are 1-1/2 spaces and if I type an address, the lines are 1-1/2 lines apart. But when I type a full line and it wraps to the next line, it is single spaced. When I hit a carriage return at the end of the paragraph, it goes back to 1-1/2 spaces.

I have been using word for 15 years on both PCs and Macs. The new version is troublesome to say the least.

For instance, in Excel, when I correct a cell by typing over the information in it, the cursor goes back to the beginning of the file. This is an enormous waste of time.

Any help you can give me on either problem is appreciated.

Format>STYLE... :) And don't forget to check "Add to template".

You need to update the style to change every paragraph in the document.
Changing just one paragraph means the next paragraph you type will go back
the way it is set in the style.

No idea about Excel, we're "Wordies" in this group :)

Ask again if you need more information...
