line spacing

Hello,

Is there a way to remove spacing between lines of text so that the bottom of
the letters from the top line would touch or nearly touch the top of the
letters on the next line? I have tried the settings under paragraph
formatting - spacing and have not had any luck figuring this out by myself.

I am using Word 2002 SP2 on Windows 2000 Professional.

Thank you so much for any suggestions.

You will need to experiment, but you need to change the line spacing to
Exactly some amount equal to or less than the nominal point size.

Thanks, I have experimented with all the settings and can't come close to
having the lines rest on each other. I find that line spacing using
'Exactly' must be at least .7 and that does not get the text very close to
each other. I thought there would have been a way to do this but thanks
anyway.

What size type are you using? 0.7 pts is 0.0097 inches! Unless you're using
1-pt type, I don't see how this line spacing could possibly be too wide.

Perhaps I misunderstood you. You said you wanted the bottom of one line to
touch the top of the one below it? Using 12-pt Times New Roman (All Caps), I
can get the letters very close using Exactly 10-pt spacing. If I reduce it
to 9-pt, part of each character is truncated on the screen, but they still
print (with a tiny bit of space between, so reducing the line spacing still
further would probably do the trick).

Thanks! I was trying to reduce the space between the lines down to zero.
When I tried it the way you did it and saw the characters were truncated on
the screen, I thought they would print the way they looked on the screen .
Even though it does not look right on the screen, it does print just the way
I want it.

Thanks again.
