Lines around the bottom and the right of a JPEG (word 2000)

Okay, I'm really out of my depth with this one.
Someone's pasted a bunch of pictures into my file which
has blown up its size enormously.
If I cut one, and do a paste special, the paste special
box has 'html format' highlighted. When I paste the
picture back in again as a jpeg, it reduces the size of
the file but I get a line around the bottom and the right.
I could crop them out maybe, but I've got an awful lot of
pictures to do.
If anyone has any ideas I'd be grateful.

Can you get the original bitmaps from the person? Also you
can paste as a new picture into PhotoDraw and save as jpg.
If forced to crop, crop one picture and then use F4 to
repeat to get rid of the lines on the other pictures.
Typically you will get some degradation when copying
pictures to the clipboard and pasting them back in.
