Lines that won't delete

I have a bunch of horizontal lines in a word document
that Word seems to have put there to seperate areas of
different types of text (blocks of text indented farther
over than the main body, etc.). These lines are highly
annoying, especially since they often appear in the wrong
places, and I can't find a way to delete them. When I
hover the mouse over them, I can move them up and down
like a line in a table, but can't do anything else.

Please help.

I solved the problem.

You have to protect the document through "TOOLS\PROTECT
DOCUMENT" and then go to the Sections Tab and uncheck the
box for the area in question.
