Link Bar bad spacing

The Link Bar on my home page is different than the other pages. The spacing is too tight. Can someone tall me how to fix this? I have even tried to copy & paste from other pages and that didn't help.

On the index page you have a table just below the link bar which is making
the bar shrink up and not expand as the other pages without this extra table
beneath it.

I didn't see it. maybe you've fixed it already.
fwiw I used to use a horizontal link bar trapped in a table cell and got
better (tighter) spacing than using a vertical bar.
