Link Bar Properties not displaying ??

I have been maintaining a web site since May 2003, (GSChiro.com). Usually I
just open the web site in FrontPage 2002 and make my changes but recently I
published the web page to my computer so that they were local.

Anyway, when I made a small change to the files on my PC and then published
back to the web site, parts of the page no longer show up. Mostly things
that have to do with "Link bar properties". I tried several things, one
being, removing my changes. But still things in the "link bar" were
missing parts. Then just to try things out, I republished the entire web
site from my PC to the web site. I didn't make any changes to most of the
pages, except the one page. Anyway, now all of the pages are missing this
one part in the "Link bar properties".

The problem is on the left side of the screen. There is a blue/green panel
where there is suppose to be about 8 choices, but none of them are showing
up. They show up in FrontPage on my PC and when I open the site directly in
FrontPage. They only don't show up when I view the site in a browser. I am
using the lastest and greatest IE v6.

I have also tried publishing the site to another web hosting provider and I
get the same results.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Try opening the online web in FP (File Open Web http://www.gschiro.com/ and running Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks, or right click the
link bar and check it's properties (also check your Navigation view to make sure it is intact)

Thanks for replying. As per your advice I did the Tools/Recalculate, I have
check and changed and put back the Link Bar Properties (just to see if
making a change had any affect - it didn't), and I checked the Navigation
view. All the proper links show up in Navigation view. Unfortunately,
things are still not working. I will also check the link you have below.

any other suggestions?

For some reason NONE of your derived images are on your server (in the _derived folder)

In your local if you can see them and also do a File Preview in browser and see them, then your host server is the problem (doesn't
support long names)

As a guide the _derived folder(s) filenames generated by FP can require up to 19 Extra Characters in addition to the Combined Length
of your "filename.ext" & "theme_name" - so if your server/pc limit is 32 you only have 13 characters TOTAL for both!

Solution
Format Theme and modify anything , then save as a new theme name
- say gb instead of globalbusiness1 (that will uses only 2 characters)
Then rename all your files to be less than 11 char (including the 4 char from the .htm)

Going down this path I have figured out the problem. but now, I have two
other questions for you.

I did try your suggestion but that wasn't the problem. So I tried other
Themes, one called "dynamic1", I'm not sure if it came with FP or not. But
it looked very similar to "globalbusiness1". I noticed that the filenames
in "_themes\dynamic1" were all in LOWER case but when I used
"globalbusiness1" all the file names were in UPPER case. Well this doesn't
matter on a PC but it does matter in Unix and Linux, which are the servers I
am using.

So I renamed all the files on my PC to LOWER case and FTP them to the
server, in the proper folder. Plus I FTPed the contents of "_derived".
Then I did "tools/recalculate..." and everything started to work. By the
way, when I selected the "dynamic1" theme and "Published", files did appear
in "_derived" but not when using "globalbusiness1" with the UPPER case
files. Humm...

So on to my questions:

1. How were you able to check what was in the "_derived" directory? I know
how to do it by logging in but I guess I don't know how you were able to do
it. I did www.gschiro.com/_derived but that gave me "permission denied".

2. Do you know how to make "globalbusiness1" (or any theme for that matter)
create/save these files in lower case instead of upper case? I'm not sure
where these files are referenced.

Thanks for your help.
