Link shape to new master

J

John

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to re-link a shape to a particular
master? I want to copy some shapes from another document and link them to
an existing master (which is exactly the same).

Thanks

John

If the master is exactly the same, then ensure that the master in the
document stencils have "Match Master By Name On Drop" is checked in the
Master Properties.
Then just copy & paste the shapes from one document to the other.

It is, isn't it, but I don't now why most Microsoft Visio masters do not
have the Match Master By Name On Drop checked. I think it must be their own
ignorance...

Because we would never be able to update the content shipped in the box. We
want customers to be able to use newer versions of the shapes in their
existing diagrams.

Mark,
I don't buy that - because you just end up with multiple masters for
apparently the same type of shape
