Link shapes and property inheritance

Is it possible to create a shape and then allow child shapes to connect to
and inheritant (or access) custom properties?

For example: I have a generic server shape that contains some custom
properties for server name, IP, OS, etc. Can I add a shape that represents
backups that will have some custom values like raw storage, etc. The goal
would then be to generate a report for the backup team that would display the
custom properties that from the server (parent) and the backup object (child)?
