Melody,
Linking to a Word document is the same as linking to a .htm or graphic.
Just import the file into your site, and create a link from one of your
webpages to it. Be sure to note that the link points to a Word document and
not a regular web page. Many visitors may not have Word installed on their
computer and may not be able to view it. If you aren't sure what your
visitors have, you may want to add a link to the free Word Viewer (long URL,
you may need to paste back together):
http://office.microsoft.com/officeu...ID=CD010225841033&CTT=4&Origin=CD010224971033
If you can't guarantee that your visitors have Word or will install the Word
Viewer, then the file isn't very helpful. Because of that, I'd suggest that
you consider the PDF ("Acrobat") format. Unlike Word or the free viewer,
pretty much every web user has Adobe Acrobat Reader. Although you need
additional software to create PDFs there are free solutions available
_besides_ Adobe's pricey Acrobat solution. Take a look at CutePDF:
http://www.cutepdf.com
They have serveral versions, one of which is the free "CutePDF Writer." It
installs like a virtual printer on your computer and you print to it from
Word (or any other program). Instead of printing a piece of paper, you get
a PDF file that you can transmit electronically, via email, a cd or, most
important, on the web. Linking to a PDF is, again, just the same as linking
to any other file in your site.
Good luck!

I need to create a link to a word document. Such as an employment
application. What do I need to so this can be read out on the web?
