Link to local assets

Kevin O.

Am I missing something? I want to link to assets (images, movie files, etc.) to use as examples for sales team filling out proposal request - eg they have to choose on packaging type over another and they can click ona link to see an example. I went to insert a hyperlink and it keeps putting http:// in front of my relative URLs for files in the same directory as the form. I went to the XML view file and changed it there, but it was not picked up in the form. Any thoughts for a relative newbie? Couldn't find any guidance. Thanks.

Yeah, sorry Kevin. InfoPath isn't very good at taking local resources and
making them usable across different computers. As the files travel around,
most often local links are going to be broken, so http:// is the best
assumption.

If you are submitting the requests to a web service, you can do
post-processing on the files to strip out the http:// and local file paths.
It has been done, though it's certainly not easy.
