I am trying to create a link from a Project task to a bookmark within a Word
document.

I am followig this procedure from Microsoft "Create a hyperlink by dragging
content from another Word document" avaialable at:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA101659291033.aspx#4

However, when I click the Bookmark button in the Create hyperlink doalig
box, I get teh following error, "Microsoft Project could not open this file
or could not parse a file of this type."

I am running Office 2003 Professional on XP, SP2. Any help would be
appreciated.

Before you do anything in Microosft Project 2003, make sure that you have
created the Bookmark in the Word document (Insert - Bookmark). Be sure to
jot down the EXACT name of the Bookmark as well, and then save and close the
Word document. Now, try these steps in Microsoft Project 2003:

1. Select the task from which you want to hyperlink to the document with
the Bookmark in Word.
2. Click Insert - Hyperlink.
3. In the Insert Hyperlink dialog, navigate to the Word document and select
it.
4. In the Text to Display field at the top of the dialog, enter a name for
the hyperlink.
5. Click the OK button to create the initial hyperlink.
6. Click View - Table - More Tables.
7. In the More Tables dialog, select the Hyperlink table and then click the
Apply button.
8. Pull the split bar to the far right so you can see the Subaddress
column.
9. In the Subaddress column for the selected task, type the EXACT name of
the Bookmark in Word and press the Enter key.

Now, click the hyperlink symbol in the Indicators column. I believe the
system will launch Word, open the document, and then navigate to the
selected Bookmark. Please note that you CANNOT click the Bookmark button in
the Insert Hyperlink dialog, which is what generated your error message, I
believe. Hope this helps.
