Hi,
When I want a link to another homepage, I use http://...
When I want a link to a file, I use file:///...

What do I use if I want a file to be opened in Word, not
in Internet Explorer? When I use file:///... the file is
opened in a new windows in IE, but I want it opened in
Word only.

Not possible unless you are doing it on just on your PC or on an intranet (where your users can change their PC settings)
See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=162059

PS
Using a file link like file:/// will only work for you (open a file on your PC)
Others will not be able to open it unless it is a relative link to a file w/i your FP web like ../pathtofile/filename.ext

Hi again,
Yes, I am talking about using it on an intranet.

The link, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
scid=162059, was only talking about Win95/98 and NT. We
have Win XP and IE 6.0.
