Linked objects inserted in single file, cause meltdown!

Ofver the last couple of weeks trying to insert another powerpoint file as a
linked object closes PP and get Microsoft error message. This has never been
a problem in the past and the same error happens on multiple laptops with
varied files, so wondering if a recent update is causing this? Anyone having
similar problems or any ideas? Liz

Maybe if you quote the error message and tell us the version of PowerPoint

Are you trying to insert files made with an old version?

The error message is a "Microsoft PowerPoint has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenence.

Error signature reads:
AppName: powerpnt.exe AppVer: 10.0.2623.0 ModName: easfa.dll
ModVer: 6.0.0.7 Offset: 0001c799

I'm running PP 2002 and, generally no they are not older versions.

My company has recently installed an email archiving system - the timescale
fits with the problem - so I guess this is the culprit, will check in the
morning, thanks for the suggestion. I have the horrible feeling that we will
not be able to switch off temporarily, is there a possible workround? I know
how to insert files to make a single PP, but is a little cumbersome for
updating etc.

Don't think this will work, or am I being dense? We run screenshows at
conferences, with header slides interspersed with speaker presentations which
they run from a laptop on a lectern so while I can see how you could insert a
hyperlink, but not how I get get it to run in screenshow just be hitting
enter?
