Linked Table Manager Problem

On this one computer, running Windows XP Pro SP2 and Office
2002, when I want to use the Linked Table Manager, and get
to the point of selecting the new location, if I try to use
the drop-down menu, Access hangs, and has to be closed using
Task Manager. If, instead of using the drop-down, I just
use button for backing up one directory, all is well.

Any thoughts appreciated.
