Linked task between Project does show Text1

I've linked a task between two projects. I expected the value in Text1 of
the successor task being displayed as a 'shadow' task in the predecessor
project. What have I done wrong.

Anyone with suggestion?

You have done nothing wrong. As you have discovered, a lesser amount of
information is stored in a "ghost task" than in a regular project task. For
example, a ghost task does not include information found in the Resource
names field. As you have discovered, information in custom fields, such as
Task1 or Cost1, is not displayed in the ghost task either. To see the
values in custom fields, you can create a master project consisting of
subprojects that have dependencies on one another, and you will see the
Text1 values for every task in every subproject. Hope this helps.

Dave,
I've been having a problem getting a task to link.
Are your projects in project server 2003? If so can you
detail how you got the link to work?

Thanks in advance,

Andrea

The steps I detailed in the previous post will work in Project 2000, 2002,
and 2003. Are you following the steps that I specified to link tasks across
projects? If so, what problems are you having with linking? Please give me
information. Thanks!

Shadow or Ghost tasks predecessor or successor from other projects
only have a minimum amount of information in them. This is so they
don't interfere with the calculation of the open project. For example
you would not want to roll up the cost from the ghost task into your
project. So as a general rule if it does not need to be there it is
not copied from the other project. Also notice that baseline dates
are not copy across.

HI Ray

Thanks for your response.

I do want the costs and baseline dates from the Shadow/Ghost task to be
incorporated into the current project file. What steps would need to
performed?
