I have templates for two workbooks that I use fairly
often. One of the original files (A) from which the
templates were created is linked to the other (B) for
automatic updates. I need to find a way to ensure that
when new workbooks are created from these two templates,
the new file created from tempA will be linked to the new
file created from tempB, rather than to the original file
B.
I tried creating new files and simply performing a find
and replace (ctrl F) for the file names, but Excel
returned an error message telling me that the new file
name was invalid, which is odd since this method has
worked in the past with files created by simply copying
the originals.
Is there any way to do this automatically in Excel, or
will I have to write a separate macro to change the
linking information?
Thanks.
