Hi,
I'm doing a short (20 min.) presentation and would like to include a "Click
Here for More Information" button where users could access more slides if
they wanted to. What's the best way to do this?

Just as you described. Put the additional information in a separate
presentation file, or add the slides to the existing one and make them a "Custom
Show".
