Linking Excel Charts with Powerpoint

Hi,
I have an application in which I have to link 130 excel charts with my
powerpoint template. The user then has to go and update the links by
navigating through the below menu
MicrosoftCircle>>Prepare>>Edit Links to File.
In the update links dailog box the user has to select all the links before
he can update them.
It is this selection process that takes too much time in PPTX Template i.e
Powerpoint 2007.
Can anybody explain this delay in Powerpoint 2007, as per my observation
this selection process works faster in Powerpoint 2003 as compared to that of
Powerpoint 2007.
Kindly explain.
