linking files on a CD

I want to copy onto a CD an Access database that has linked files that are
currently on my hard drive. If I copy the database and files onto CD will I
lose the link. Also can anyone tell me how to open Abode Reader using a
command button on a form and open up the linked file.
Many thanks

I don't believe that you'll be able to run off of a CD - Access requires
read/write permissions to the location containing the .mdb file. Can you use
a USB drive instead?

By "linked files" do you mean linked tables?

Also, take a look at the shell function - you can use it to sstart external
applications such as Adobe Reader.

Scott,

The CD is for distribution to customers, I have supplied many in the past
without trouble. The reason for the question is that I am now using PDF files
in tables rather than JPG's, after I open Abode and return to Access I get
the following message:
"The operation on the acrobat document object failed. The OLE server may not
be registered. To register the OLE server, reinstall it."
To overcome this problem I was advised to link the files rather than embed
them in the database table.
So I am trying to copy onto CD the database and a mixture of about 150 PDF
and JPG files. I am quite new to this game and havn't come across 'shell' but
will look into it.

Many thanks
