linking from Word to WMF?

L

Lex de Haan

I am trying to create a link from a Word document to a
graphic stored in a WMF file, but I get the error
message "Word cannot obtain the data for the blah.WMF
link." Importing the image works, and linking and
embedding works too -- but I want the solution in the
middle: just linking, without the embedding.

Is this possible? I could only find references to filters
like "Windows Metafile - Import Only" ...

thanks,
Lex.

It shouldn't be any more difficult to link a WMF than any other graphic for
which Word has an import filter. If you want to do it manually then use an
INCLUDEPICTURE field

eg { INCLUDEPICTURE "C:\\Program Files\\WinFax\\Cover\\APPROVED.WMF" \d }

Note the double ' \\' in the path and the \d switch.
