Linking Image Files

Zain

Hi

Generally, my presentations contain many images. One example is my
Banking Presentation, which has got many screenshots of the Banking
Pages in it. Unfortunately, the Banking Pages are continually updated,
which means that I have to insert the new images into the presentation
every time a change is made.

The problem is that the presentation is around 50 pages long, so making
updates to images can become extremely cumbersome.

What I need to know is if it's possible and how to create a link between the
images in the presentation and the source images used. Thus, if an image
is updated and the corresponding presentation is opened, it would
automatically update the images in the presentation.

Please help me out with this one, as it would make my life a lot easier.

Regards

if you "insert > picture > from file"

on one of the menus of the file dialog ... is a hidden options menu that
gives you the option to "link" the picture.

It's my understanding, that if you use this option to link to your
pictures.... then when your powerpoint presentation is opened, powerpoint
will ask if you want to update the links... clicking yes, will then update
the presentation with the most recent pictures.

You need to keep the folder and the picture name the same all the time.

Hi

I think TAJ Simmons is right BUT while sending to the customer, the file
asks for link otherwise shows a red cross mark box (no image) as it will
search for the folder or file to link. We can send as pdf to the customer
otherwise we have to make a customer copy ppt with delinking the images and
send.

What do u say Simmons??

In case you are unable to find TAJ's "hidden menu" its in a drop down on the
INSERT button after you've selected your image file!

BUT while sending to the customer
In the original post, there was no mention of sending things to customers :)

otherwise shows a red cross mark box (no image)
If the file to link to is no longer there.... powerpoint will show a box,
the size of the image), with a small red x icon (missing graphic) image. In
its place.

Cheers
