Linking Problem

There is a setting in the Links management screen to have Excel not
ask if you want to Update links, just do it and dont ask.
I have selected it, and it does not work, I am still asked.
Is this a bug or are my expectations not in keeping with the
capabilities>

I'm guessing you're using xl2002 or higher.

Is the link management screen the same as:
Edit|links|startup button?

There's another option that is application wide and is set by the user--not the
developer of the workbook.

Tools|options|edit tab
Ask to update automatic links.

If I (as a user) turn this on, then that supersedes any setting you (as a
developer) make in any particular workbook.

If I turn this off, then your settings will be respected.

This seems ok to me. I should have the final say on how I open any workbook.

So it's kind of locked cells in a worksheet. They don't mean much until the
worksheet is protected.

You're setting doesn't mean much if I don't change my setting.

Things are easy when you know how. Thank you.
