Linking to a file and it doesn't open?

I have created a hyperlink to a Microsoft Word document file but for some
reason when I select the "Open" option the file doesn't open. I can save the
file ok but it just won't open. Any ideas? The directory and filename does
not contain any spaces. I'm not sure if that's important or not. Thanks for
any help!

Open your Front Page program and open the website you are working on. If the
Microsoft File is on the left page menu then delete it. Save your website
and then click file > import and browse through your documents folder where
you have the microsoft file. Double click on it and follow the instructions
shown on a pop up window in Front Page. Save the front page website. If you
have not removed the old hyperlink you had before do so now. Then make a new
link to the microsoft file. Save and preview the results. The Microsoft
file will take a while to show up and the time span depends on the size of
the file. On a dia-up modem it should take anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes.

This seemed to work fine. Thank you so much for the help. I guess just
copying the file into a directory instead of importing a file into the web
really makes a difference! Thanks again!

I'm sorry but it didn't work. It worked fine the first time I tried it and
when I closed out of explorer and did some work and came back to it, it
didn't work. Any other ideas?
