linking to a shape on same page with a mouse click

I'm very new at Visio (have 2003 pro). I would like to select part of a text
in a shape, and hyperlink to another shape on the same page.

Example Text in Shape:
Would you like to learn more?
Yes
No

I would like to click on "Yes" and link to another shape on the same page
(perhaps it would highlight the active shape). Is this possible?

Only an entire shape can have a hyperlink(s).
However, you could create one shape containing the question, then add
two extra shapes in front containing the Y/N text, each of which has a
hyperlink to the destination shape.

Thank you Paul. That makes sense.

Also, I found that when you click a hyperlink to a destination shape on a
separate tab/page (via an offpage reference shape), the destination shape
highlights. But can I set the hyperlink to a destination shape on the same
page (maybe via an onpage reference shape), and have this occur? This would
provide a better visual for my reviewers, as may they be testing flow of 100
shapes on one page alone (with that many shapes on other pages as well)...

If 03 doesn't, maybe 07 does? Thanks again.

The off-page reference is handled by an addon that controls this in a
different way to hyperlinks.

Since I'm new to Visio (and flowcharts in general), I am not familiar with
addons. Is a person able to create or customize an addon for a specific
purpose?

Perhaps it might be better for me to first learn more about addons to
establish a base of understanding. Otherwise, I might overdo it on asking a
string of questions. Is there a good demo/tutorial on these?

Thanks.

Yes, but you'll need a programmer to write the addon, existing addons
cannot be modified. VBA or Visual Studio are the most common routes.

Excellent. Thanks Paul!
