Hi all, I'm trying to set up a link or access-to on my web site created using fp2002 for people to be able to access my FTP server that I have running on my pc. I'm not sure if i can just link to it or have to set up some kind of client on webpage or what?? Any help would be greatly appriciated.

link would be ftp://

I tried that and published my site and then tried the link and nothing. I get the "the page cannot be displayed" web page and thats it...

You can not link back to your PC, unless you have a static IP address and
have port 21 open on your router, which will then leave you PC open for
hackers.

Ok Tom thanks for the help. I thought i could allow my friends password protected access from my site. I guess i can just include a download for a client on my site and they can use that route.

thanks all

Bryson,

You can.

But the IP adress must be static, e.g., ftp://66.23.322.23/myfiles

Any time you allow access through your firewall there is the potential of
attack. Make sure the FTP access is password protected and not anyonmous and
that there is no write access. To folders in the FTP tree.

BTW, you may wish to check with your ISP / WPP. Most allow you to set up an
FTP site at the web.
