Linking Workbooks

I have the main workbook in one location on server. I need a second workbook in another location that when opened will "show" all data in the main workbook. I have tried the copy and paste special into the new workbook but Excel does not like that. any ideas on an easy way to do this? I want it to look exactly the same and have users be able to update either workbook so they always look the same.

thanks.

Hi
- open both workbooks
- in the target workbook enter the equation sign '=' and select the
source cell from the other file
- hit ENTER and copy this formula for all required cells.

That doesn't quite seem to work. I want the target workbook to appear
exactly as the source. I want all formulas colors etc.

I get lots of zeros

Hi
that is not possible. Esp. formats can't ne 'copied' this was.
This is just something you can't do with Excel. You may consider using
a database or something similar to enter your data in a central place

Hello, Actually, I did get it to work with one of the workbooks. I'm
trying it on the other one now but after pasting it has funky symbols. I
think I'm on the right track.

As soon as you separate your data into two different workbooks, you're data will
never match again (well, only by accident!).

I think you'll be better served keeping one copy.
