Links disappear between tasks and documents

We've had some problems with links from project tasks to documents (uploaded using WSS Documents feature) disappearing. The tasks and documents are still there and can be accessed through "Project Pro 2003" and "Documents" in PWA respectively, but the links to the project tasks are gone. Does anyone know what causes this
