I just downloaded spawn- which is exactly what I needed
I have one question- I am using it to pop open a photo- but how can I put a little "close" button under the photo- or anywhere in window?

You have to create a page for each large image with the Close Window Link on the page,, then you
have to change your thumbnail link to point to the page with the large image and not to the image
directly.

thanks for your help- I guess what I am asking is how to add the link to the photo- or a new photo ..
if I have never used java scripts...
